Introducing Aligne
So, what and who is Aligne? Well, our journey began last year, pre-lockdown and way before the pandemic changed each and every one of our lives. After many years of working in fashion buying and product development, our founder, Dalbir, felt it was time to start a new chapter: a new womenswear brand that was considered and contemporary, with planet-friendliness at its core. Fast forward to today, you’ll find signature prints, eco-friendly finishes and love-forever silhouettes in a collection that embraces trends but values timelessness. Pieces you’ll wear now, love later and cherish always.
Five minutes with Aligne founder, Dalbir Bains
We grabbed a flat white with our founder and creative director, Dalbir Bains, to find out all about Aligne and its planet-friendly ethos.
So, what inspired you to create a planet-friendly fashion brand?
I’m passionate about transparency, and today we all need to know where and how our clothes are made. I’ve worked in the fashion industry for many years, so I’m aware of how collections are created and the dramatic impact garment production is having on our planet. I found myself asking the same old questions time and time again and felt determined to create a brand that puts both fashion and our future first.
And why launch Aligne now?
To be honest, it felt like the perfect time. Eco-consciousness plays a huge role in our lives, and it felt like the right moment to produce an affordable, planet-friendly fashion brand that truly cares. A brand with a big heart and even bigger plans for the seasons ahead. This is only the beginning!
How is the collection planet-friendly?
We work tirelessly to ensure we only partner with factories that share our vision and the same ethical code of conduct, while our fabrics are carefully selected due to their green credentials and premium quality. This includes breezy organic cotton, innovative Lenzing™ Ecovero™ viscose and our timeless, everyday denim, mindfully made with 50% less water.
Do you have a favourite piece from the collection?
That’s a tricky one! I'm so proud of every piece, but if I had to choose… it would be our classic cropped blazer, or the multitasking liner jacket. It’s fully reversible, and the perfect way to tackle the (always) unpredictable British weather!
