Behind the Prints

We caught up with Alexandra, Alina and Corina from one of our factories in Romania, responsible for the creation of our printed dresses that exude cottage core. Read on to find out what their workdays look like as they take each design from screen to mannequin.
Alexandra - Pattern Cutter
What does a typical work day look like for you?
I leave home every day knowing that today I will develop something new! And this is a beautiful feeling. In the office, surrounded by fabrics, sketches, trends and new designs, I start patterning on my computer, by drawing, measuring to specification and making virtual 3D models for the garments that will afterwards come to life. Pattern cutting represents the 2D version of a garment and requires a large amount of knowledges in this field and I must say, kind of a 5th sense! Hard working? Bet you! My role really needs devotion!
I would describe myself in this job, as being an involved, dedicated and open-minded person, that, from absolute zero experience in this domain, managed to become a responsible pattern cutter that is able to bring innovation, follow trends and have an impact on people through garment making . Personal satisfaction for a job that you like would always bring the benefits! I do consider that doing my creative pattern cutting role involves being authentic in every decision I make and considering each design as being unique in it’s own way.
What's your favourite thing about your role?
I love that the pattern cutting role I’m in allows me to use my creativity and to use high end 3D technology! Both in personal life and job, it will always be necessary to learn and keep up with the very broad acknowledges that surround us!
Corina - Machinist Co-ordinator
What does a typical work day look like for you?
There’s no day the same as the one before, as fashion always changes and brings us new designs and fabrics!
As a machinist co-ordinator I plan the workload for our sewing team. I am deciding according to the garment type who will sew each new design and together with our technologists propose the best sewing construction. Together with my team, we build the prototype garment that will be used in mass-production in factories.
I believe that my passion for working with people and my passion for fashion is what makes better everyday at my job!
What’s your favourite thing about your role?
The satisfaction of seeing the clothes that I have helped create in stores and in social media.
Alina - Head of pattern cutting
What does a typical work day look like for you?
In a typical day together with my team we brainstorm, research and test the best ways to engineer 3D clothing patterns that are comfortable, fashionable and planet-friendly.
It's all about collaboration, engineering, software and innovation.
