To celebrate the new season, we've invited friend of Aligne Brittany Bathgate to curate her favourite pieces from AW22 and chat with Who What Wear.
Which are your favourite pieces from the AW22 Aligne collection?
There's a gorgeous three-piece black Velvet suit coming. The use of corduroy gives it a beautiful depth and intensity. It's so flippin' cool! The Gilda trench in Mustang is also a favourite. I'm picturing it with a green knit around the shoulders...or maybe a green turtleneck layered underneath; I can't decide!

What are your go-to classic autumn must haves?

A trench coat, black penny loafers and a sturdy umbrella.

Two best tips for tran-seasonal dressing

I find this time of year the hardest to get dressed for but also the most fun because you can experiment with layers. (And it's the only time of year when sandals and a trench kinda makes sense)

A sweater vest is really handy for this time of year, layered over a t-shirt or worn on its own. I also love a cropped shacket when the temperatures still hover around the high teens.

What are your favorite trends for AW22?

My teenage self loves the return of corduroy and velvet but in more sophisticated silhouettes. Think waistcoats, pleated trousers, oversized shirts. Other things I've spotted that I'm excited about — XL silhouettes, brown paired with green and maxi layering.

Do you have any tips for winter layering?

A go-to is a turtleneck under a shirt. You can easily remove either item if you find yourself getting too hot, and I think it's a great way to extend shirts into the winter. Often, I can get stuck in a rut of jumper after jumper, but there's something about a turtleneck under a shirt (half unbuttoned) that manages to feel fresh in winter's gloom.

Why do you love working with Aligne?

It's always a joy to work with a new brand like Aligne because I get to watch the brand develop and find its voice. The AW22 is definitely my favourite collection yet, and as the brand grows from strength to strength, they're one to watch!

Favourite most recent purchase?

The Row Bindle Bag — I've been on the hunt for this bag, pre-loved, since the start of the year. I was obsessively checking all the usual re-sale sites for months and months! Finally, my perseverance paid off. It's my ideal carry-all bag. The leather is buttery soft, and it's so comfortable to wear.
