WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM THE CO-CREATION PROCESS?
Definitely just the initial meeting that I had, the PowerPoint, not realising how many different styles there were and being drawn to specific ones. Also, defining what my style is, going through that whole process, was an eye-opener. Before it was like, “Oh, I like this,” and “I like that”, but I wasn't really aware of the cut or the colours as much. I can define my style in clothes, what really fits me, and what I like the look of.
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND HAVING THE BEANIE HATS IN TWO COLOURS?
The Ada beanies were originally part of the collection. I thought it would be nice to add a pop of colour, because that's part of my [fashion] journey, and a hat is an easy way to start. We added the beanie in this light blue colour which matches the collection. Then I thought, it's an iconic thing for football supporters to wear hats to games in the autumn and winter. So I asked if we could make a Chelsea blue one, just to have that link back to football and what I'm doing in London. So we've got the lighter blue one and the Chelsea blue one coming soon.
WHICH PIECES EMBODY YOU THE MOST?
The Bronte shirt and Aubrey trousers. These are probably the pieces that I felt like I had the most input in making sure they were how I wanted them. They can be smart but still comfortable, and you could still wear them in a comfortable setting. I keep saying that you could wear these trousers walking the dog, but equally to an office or a fancy event, because of the waistband and they're comfy. So they could be styled in so many different ways, and that suits me. In my life. I'm not really one thing, but I like being able to feel comfortable but smart at the same time.
HOW HAVE YOU ENSURED THIS COLLECTION IS AS INCLUSIVE AND EMPOWERING AS POSSIBLE?
The collection feels quite inclusive and especially empowering for women, because of the fits specifically. For me, it’s really important in fashion to make sure you have stuff that fits right, that makes you look good, but also comfortable. Initially, the reason behind my collaboration with ALIGNE was the clothes: I felt I looked good, smart, empowered, but I also felt really comfortable.
