I'm lucky to work for myself from home. Having 3 children, I've found I have to be as flexible as possible, from hospital appointments to school pick ups and rallying around to ballet lessons, it's always a busy day in our house and if I haven't been as productive as I'd have liked during the day, then my husband and I will work during the evening when our youngest is in bed and the girls are busy chatting to their friends.
I became a mother 16 years ago at the young age of 20. Back then I was still trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted my style to be. I would say that my style has definitely evolved over time and has grown alongside my children. I feel that once I'd hit my 30's I became much more comfortable in my own skin and in the clothes that I wore. Looking back, every baby that I had, I was at a different stage in my life and clothes/fashion is always something that I've had a passion for.
Style tips for new Mums, I was very much about the casual and comfort. It took me a while to feel myself again after having a baby and was always in a bit of a style rut, so I would say not to put pressure on yourself to look and dress a certain way. My days consisted of napping, feeding and being on the floor playing but when I did want to get dressed and feel a little more human, I found a good staple piece like a trench coat would elevate a more casual outfit when I was out and about running errands and I always say you can't go wrong with a good white t-shirt and some denim.
My Mum is a very strong lady and has had many ups and downs over the years, it may not be advice but I've always looked at her and taken on board the way in which she brought us up and I've strived to do the same with our children. The main thing she's taught me is only do what makes you happy and not to settle for anything less.
Mums, that inspire you?
